FAQ

You say you guarantee the translation’s quality, how do you do that?

Your complete satisfaction is important to us. If you are for any reason not entirely satisfied with a translation, we will work with you to understand your objections, and rework the text until it reflects exactly your original message.

What determines the cost of a translation?

Translations are usually charged on a “per word” basis. The most important factor in determining the cost is the technical nature of the text. This affects the amount of research required by the translator to understand the subject and find the right terms in the target language.

French from France or from Canada?

The distinction is subtle, but it’s there. The difference could be compared to the distinction between US English and UK English. You want a localization that reflects your understanding of the market and reaches your potential customer’s heart and mind. Especially when it comes to marketing your product or service.

What kind of turn around should I budget for?

Ideally, budgeting 24 hours/1000 words is a good guideline. However, working as a team allows us to collaborate to meet rush orders, should you have a tight deadline.

I’m bilingual, can I be a translator?

Although being bilingual is an essential criterion, a good translator is a professional who has undergone years of training to master his/her trade. Working in their own language, they make sure that their translation has the look and feel of a native speaker. It should flow smoothly and convey the author’s ideas fluently and idiomatically. Before working independently, professional translators should have acquired several years of experience, in addition to holding a university degree in translation.

Are you big enough to handle all my translation needs?
LAT began in 1999, to meet the translation needs of the largest electronic retailer in Canada
. Since then, our diversified client base has been the driving force behind our innovations and growth. We have localized a series of 35 computer manuals and accompanying CDs, translated websites, government documents, press releases for the Vancouver Olympics and other major events, created bilingual and French only signage and labels for stores, translated product descriptions and training manuals, and much more. In short, yes, we can handle your needs – whatever their magnitude.

Do you support all languages?
Yes. We may specialize in the Canadian market, but we translate to and from English and French into all other languages. L.A. Translations has a proven track record working with clients needing translations for a wide variety of languages. Our international team of translators will ensure your message is accurate. Just as importantly, they give it a local touch, a crucial factor in pleasing your target audience.

How much will the project cost?

The cost of a translation is based on two factors: the nature of the text, and the number of words. Please click here to send us your document for a free quote within 24 hrs.
